asked questions by other students.

When will I receive my insurance policy?

We intend to send you the confirmation e-mail with your insurance policy and the policy conditions within five working days of your online application. During busy periods this could take a little longer.

What should I fill in if I do not know my new address yet?

Provided the University grants you permission, you can use their address. Once you have your own address you must change your address on the policy immediately. You can do this online via your personal page.

When does my insurance cover start?

You are covered from the starting date that you requested in the application form. 

  • If the homeland is located within the EEA, the cover does not commence until the moment you have left your home in your homeland to travel to the destination country.
  • If the insurance was applied for after you left your home in the homeland to travel to the destination country, the cover commences at the moment at which this insurance was applied for.
  • If the starting date falls on a later date than the date of application, your cover will commence on the starting date.
  • If your homeland is located outside the EEA and the destination country is located within the EEA, the cover does not commence until the moment you arrive at your home in the destination country, on condition that Aon receives the application on or before the starting date.

Please note: The insurance cover is always on condtiion that Aon receives your premium on time. "On time" means within thirty days after notification of the premium.

Can partners and children also apply for Aon Student insurance?

Yes. Registrated partners and children may be insured under the ICS insurance, on the condition that;

• you are still enrolled as a student and you have your own ICS insurance;
• your partner or child's insurance period falls entirely within the validity period of your own ICS  insurance with Aon;
• your partner or child buys the same ICS insurance as you have;
• each family member applies individually for their own ICS insurance.

During the application process you choose the option partner/child. Keep your policy number at hand during the application process.

Please note:
1. Partners and children pay a higher premium for the ICS Complete package (EUR 1,99 instead of EUR 1,31 per day).
2. The cover differs on several points from your own insurance cover. Please therefore check your insurance policy conditions carefully regarding this.

Terms and Conditions

My address and/or bank account details have changed. How do I notify Aon of this?

Changes in your address and/or bank account details can be made online. Login to your personal page where you can easily make the change online yourself. 

If your insurance was applied for by your university, please contact your university. They will be able to assist you.

How can I cancel my ICS insurance?

You can cancel your ICS insurance if you leave your country of destination sooner than expected, if your study ends or if you become eligible to purchase the Dutch Basic Healthcare Insurance. You can then cancel your ICS insurance yourself, online. When you do this, you will be asked to provide;
- the reason for your cancellation; and,
- the bank details to which a potential premium reimbursement can be arranged. (Reimbursements to bank accounts within Europe can be processed substatially quicker than to bank accounts outside Europe. Therefore, if you have access to a European bank account and you would like a swift refund, please provide the details for a European bank account.)
